We have four electric bikes available for guests staying at Kumiko’s Guest House to really get to know the area. Weave your way through the vineyard trails and stop at the many award winning wineries to enjoy the true cellar door experience. If Kumiko’s Guest House is not booked the e-bikes are available for rent by guests staying at Russell’s Cabins. Please enquire when booking your stay and we will let you know if they’re available.

We are very fortunate to be surrounded by some of New Zealand’s most iconic wineries, cellar doors and restaurants. Pegasus Bay, Black Estate, Greystone and The Bone Line are all a short drive from Kumiko’s.
We are a short two minute walk from award-winning winery restaurant, Black Estate.
Deservedly awarded New Zealand Winery of the Year in 2017 & 2019 as well as sporting 2 Cuisine hats, Black Estate is that rarest of fine dining restaurants able to combine a welcoming, relaxed experience with utterly exceptional food and wine.

We are blessed to be located in the most amazing region of New Zealand. Not only are we deep in the heart of wine country, within easy access to multiple outstanding wineries and vineyards, but we are also in that magic sweet spot between the mountains and the sea. Kumiko’s has a multitude of walking trails just waiting to be discovered. In any season and in any weather, walking through the Waipara hills is one of life’s tonics.

We’re an easy one-hour drive to the hot pools in nearby alpine spa town Hanmer Springs, which has a wealth of cafes and boutique shopping available as well. There is incredible fishing just up the road at Motunau if you feel like catching your own dinner.
You can enjoy some wonderful whale watching in Kaikoura, or surf the world renowned Mangamaunu break also in the Kaikoura area.
